Put on the whole armour of God

Ephesians 6:10-18 (ESV)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.

  1. One of my favorite scriptures!!! It also reminds us our Lord did not provide covering for our "back side" showing we are to take our weapons and fight the good fight of faith.

In the U.S. today it is the National Day of Prayer. Breaks my heart that our current President is "playing down" this day this year. The first time in the 57 years since President Harry S. Truman signed the Bill making this our National Day of Prayer that a President has not honored this day with a Prayer Breakfast in the White House.

Mickey & I will be joining others in our small town at noon to pray together at the fire station. Praise God my little town still honors Prayer.

  2. Hi Susan,
I didn't know about the U.S. National Day of Prayer -- saw it in your blog as well -- and surprising (at least to me) that the current president has not honoured it -- wonder why.

  3. :) I am not surprised if he [Obama] did not. We'll see another Tony Blair of the US ...
